Sophia Kathleen: A Baptism

This was the first baptism of this kind that I've ever attended and to be honest, I (along with pretty much every other woman in attendance!) was pretty torn up over the fact that this sweet little baby was being fully immersed!! It was pretty traumatic! Aside from the trauma that (thankfully) little Sophia won't remember when she's older, it was an absolutely beautiful event full of the warmest and most welcoming and loving family and friends! I am blessed to have been a part of it. :)

Sophia's mother, Angela, found me online and emailed me about photographing this event in a documentary/candid style (my very favorite ;), and I jumped at the opportunity! They were coming from Alberta so we didn't get to meet until the day before, but they're just the sort of people you feel like you've known forever, you know? I love people like that!

We went over the order of events for the ceremony and the luncheon afterward, and an extra bit of fun: They wanted all of the families and couples who were there to have a family portrait taken if they wanted as a special gift from them! What an awesome idea! There were some beautiful trees and grass beside the church, so it made for a perfect backdrop!

Here are some of my favorite shots from the day, although let me tell you, it was hard narrowing it down... you have no idea!!

Sophia's godparents were the ones to hold her throughout the ceremony. Her parents Tom and Angela made sure to get the whole thing on video though!

Angela kept hiding behind Tom so Sophia wouldn't see her and start crying––it was so cute!

I could post so many more but I'll end this post here! The last thing I need is my blog crashing because of photo overload! ;)

Sending out another huge thank you to Tom and Angela and all of the wonderful people I met that day for your hospitality and for allowing me to be a part of such a special event! I am blessed!!

Mother & Son: Tahnee and Arnez

This post has been a while in coming (remember the sneak peek from weeks ago??), but I've finally started to get caught up on some things and can get back to blogging more! Yay!! :D

This is portrait session that turned into a whole family affair––those are always fun! :D We started with photos of Arnez (poor kid was so tired, but he did an awesome job ;) and Tahnee (I love gorgeous pregnant women!), added Devine and then Tahnee's mom Kim into the mix, finished up with a mini maternity session, and voila! Behold, the favorites:

(Oh, and as always, there's more on my Facebook page!)

Ben & Alexis Teasers!

Last weekend, our very good friends Ben and Alexis tied the knot! It was a very simple occasion with close friends and family and church family, but absolutely lovely! The weather was PERFECT after several days of less-than-desirable temperatures and windy/rainy streaks, so there wasn't much more we could ask for!

Here's a couple of favorites to tide you over until I have more ready to go up!

Figgie Fan Mail!

Okay, so I actually ASKED for this picture to be taken so I could see, but hey... I still got excited when I opened my email and saw this! ;D

I was unable to meet Wendy when she dropped by my house to pick up her disc with engagement photos, but I heard all about how cute it was how her scrubs matched my packaging (both from her and my family!), so I just had to ask for a photo! So here I am, blogging you, Wendy. In all your Figgie-colored-glory-ness!! :D

--

Watch for her and Mike's e-session to be posted! Coming soon!!

Also, if you have fan mail or photos you'd like me to feature here, I would LOVE to!! So long as it has SOMETHING to do with Figgie-ness, it always has a spot on this blog! ;)

Baby Sophie

This little doll could be a model--no joke! She has the greatest expressions and hardly fusses, and to me, that is baby model material! Not to mention how darn CUTE she is!!

I did some pictures of Sophie's big brother Ilia earlier this year, so it was fun seeing how different the two of them are to photograph! Of course it'll be even MORE different when Sophie gets older and can crawl, talk, and even walk, but for now, I'm loving the results from this session! (And seriously, how cute is her little red flowered dress??!)

Gerry & Stella are married!!

This was the first Greek wedding I ever attended, and boy, was it fun!! My sister Becky (who most often accompanies me as my second shooter) and Tom (the official second shooter for this wedding) came along, so we had great fun dancing toward the end of the night! Frank Casablanca was the DJ and such a riot!! I love working with other wedding vendors who are fun and professional at the same time. :D

Back to the stars of this event though, I spent the morning with Stella and her bridesmaids while Tom headed over to get some shots of Gerry and the guys. I am so grateful for having been able to work with such awesome people, I have to say!! Everyone was so sweet and fun––and the food!!! ;)

We faced a bit of a challenge for the wedding party photos because of Windsor being on strike (so all of the public parks and other beautiful areas for pictures were overgrown with weeds and tall grass), but we made do and the rain had made way for the bright sunshine by the time the ceremony had ended.

All in all, it was a wonderful wedding and certainly a wonderful way to spend one of my Saturdays in May! A HUGE thank you again to Gerry, Stella, their parents, and everyone in the wedding party for everything––you guys are all awesome!!

Enjoy these photos and then be sure to check out their engagement shoot from earlier this year (if you haven't already seen them :) here!

This, to me, is incredibly hilarious... Frank organized a little contest between the bride and groom by having them each start their own train around the entire reception, grabbing as many people as they could to follow them before coming back over to the DJ table for a head count. What cracks me up is how many of Stella's sisters and cousins (and her mom!) are in Gerry's group!!
